  ICPF's Tenth Annual Careers in Corrugated Teleconference

Will Break Previous Year's Participation Record
 
The International Corrugated Packaging Foundation's tenth annual Careers in
Corrugated Teleconference will be conducted on Wednesday, February 25, 2009 from 2:00 to 4:00 PM EST.   The interactive Teleconference will be broadcasted live from Michigan State University Studios to packaging science and graphic design schools participating from 18 colleges and universities around the country.  A new Teleconference participation record. 
 
The purpose of the annual Teleconference is to raise student and faculty awareness and knowledge of the corrugated packaging & display industry, and its career opportunities for future packaging and graphic design graduates.
 
The graphic design and packaging science students and faculty will be participating from the campuses of  Appalachian State University, Cal Poly State University, Christian Brothers University, Clemson University, Dunwoody College of Technology, Iowa State University, Maryland Institute College of Art, Michigan State University, Millersville University, North Carolina A&T State University, Pennsylvania College of Technology, Rutgers University, San Jose State University, Thaddeus Stevens College, University of Florida, University of Wisconsin-Stout, VA Tech, and Western Michigan University.   
 
The program will include a panel of industry executives (Joseph Hodges, Mid-Atlantic Packaging, Inc.; Rachel Kenyon, Fibre Box Association; and George D'Urso, Smurfit-Stone Container Corporation) addressing elements of the industry's sustainability, including the life cycle analysis of the corrugated industry, an industry perspective in answering questions related to recycled content within corrugated packaging, and the evolution of independent corrugated converter sustainable packaging practices. The industry panel will be followed by an interactive question and answer period by participating students.
 
The interactive Teleconference also will include ICPF's live Best of the Best student design competition among four teams, three from Cal Poly and one from Clemson.  The four teams will "show, tell and sell their top four winning entries from AICC's 2008 student design competition.  The three Cal Poly teams will consist of Chelsey Wood, Troy Nelson, Kevin Roberts, Aric Krasowski, Gianni Donati and John Howard.  The Clemson team includes Kristen Jackson and Kelly Feight.
